Booking & logistics

How do I book a session?

Email me at ekptheyogi@gmail.com with what you're interested in and a bit about where you are and what you're looking for. I'll get back to you and we'll find the right fit together.

Do you offer a consultation before I commit?

Yes. If you're unsure which service is right for you — or if you're an organization exploring what working together could look like — reach out and we can have a brief conversation before anything is booked or paid.

Where are you located and do you travel?

I'm based in the Greater Tacoma–Seattle area and available for travel. Most individual yoga and intuitive sessions are virtual. Workshops, group classes, and organizational engagements can happen wherever you are — location is part of the booking conversation.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours notice to reschedule a session. Late cancellations or no-shows are charged in full. For organizational engagements and retreats, cancellation terms are outlined in the agreement we sign together.

Yoga

What level of yoga experience do I need?

You don't need experience, but you do need to be honest with me about where you are so I can meet you there. Beginners are welcome!

What's the difference between virtual and in-person sessions?

Virtual 1:1 sessions are $55 for 60 minutes and happen over video. In-person 1:1 sessions are $111 for 60 minutes and take place at a location we agree on. In-person sessions also include hands-on assisting — physical adjustments that deepen the practice in ways a screen can't replicate.

Do you teach for athletes and sports teams?

Yes — and this is work I particularly love. Power yoga is a natural fit for high-performance athletes: bilateral strength, mobility, inversions, and the kind of somatic awareness that makes bodies last longer and perform better. I work with teams on a group, season contract, or embedded basis. See Teams & Organizations for more.

What do I need for a virtual session?

A mat, enough floor space to extend your arms and legs fully, and a device positioned so I can see your full body. Yoga blocks are helpful but not required. A stable internet connection and a quiet space where you won't be interrupted.

Can we focus on a specific area instead of a full sequence?

Absolutely. That's one of the advantages of 1:1 work. We can dedicate a full 60 minutes to arm balances, inversions, flexibility, bilateral strength, or any area you want to develop. You tell me what you're working on and I'll design the session around it.

Intuitive services

What's the difference between a pre-recorded and synchronous reading?

A pre-recorded reading means I pull your cards, record the session, and send it to you — you can watch it in your own time. A synchronous reading happens live over video, in real time, so there's room for dialogue and follow-up questions as we go. Both are equally thorough. Choose based on what feels right for you.

How should I prepare for a reading?

Come with your question or situation in mind. You don't need to have it perfectly worded — just know what's sitting heaviest for you right now. The clearer you are, the more specific the reading can be. Come with an open mind, make sure you are well rested, and please do not be under the influence during your session.

What if I'm new to tarot or oracle?

That's completely fine. You don't need any background knowledge — that's my job. I'll explain what comes through in plain language. What matters is that you come with an open mind and a real question.

How do I know if I need the single or extended reading?

If you have one specific thing you need clarity on — a decision, a relationship, a direction — the single focus reading at $111 is enough. If you're navigating multiple areas of your life at once and need to look at 2–3 things, the extended reading at $222 gives us space to go deeper across all of them.

Is this reading confidential?

Yes. What comes up in a reading stays between us. I don't share, discuss, or reference client sessions. This is a sacred space and I treat it that way.

Can I get a reading if I am Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or practice another religion?

Yes. Receiving a reading is not in conflict with your religion. I will respect your faith and ask that you respect my intuitive practice in return. Please remember that I cannot tell you what is or isn't moral within the framework of your religion — that self-inquiry is yours to do before our session, so we can spend our time on the guidance your spirit team has for you.

Teams & organizations

What size organizations do you work with?

All sizes. I've worked with large institutions like Pierce College and the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, mid-size organizations like the Ellipsis Institute for Womxn of Color in the Academy, and small teams and individual leadership engagements. The work scales to what you need.

Can you come to us or is everything virtual?

Both. Workshops can be delivered in-person or virtually. For embedded roles and season contracts, I'm available for travel. Location is part of the conversation when we discuss scope and terms.

How do embedded roles work?

An embedded role means I function as your organization's Wellness Director for a defined period — showing up consistently, building programming, and integrating into your team's rhythm rather than parachuting in for a one-time event. This can be structured as a season contract, a retainer, or a full-time placement. We'll design it around what your organization actually needs.

What industries do you work with?

Entertainment companies, music labels and management, sports teams, executive leadership teams, nonprofits and social justice organizations, academic institutions, and small creative teams. If your organization is directly in touch with a lot of people and you need the people doing that work to be sustained and well — I'm likely a fit.

Credentials

What is your academic background?

I hold a PhD and MA in Sociology from Case Western Reserve University, with concentrations in social inequality and medical sociology. My research focuses on the physiological experiences of people within the margins — particularly women of color. I am also a sociology professor, a quantitative researcher, and a policy advocate. See my published work here.

Are you registered with the Yoga Alliance?

Yes. I am a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) with the Yoga Alliance. View my Yoga Alliance profile.

How does your PhD inform your wellness work?

Directly. My research on the stress process, physiological weathering, and health disparities among marginalized populations is the intellectual foundation of every workshop and organizational engagement I deliver. The body of work I've built in the academy isn't separate from the practice — it's what makes the practice rigorous. I'm not teaching wellness concepts I read somewhere. I've spent years researching what oppression does to bodies and what it takes to survive and thrive inside it.

Do you offer sliding scale pricing?

I hold a quiet sliding scale for community members doing meaningful work without institutional backing. If that's you, reach out directly and we'll figure something out. I don't advertise it widely because my time is limited, but I haven't turned away someone who was genuinely committed and needed flexibility.

How far in advance should I book?

For individual yoga and intuitive sessions, a week or two is usually enough. For workshops and organizational engagements, I ask for at least 3–4 weeks of lead time, and more for larger events. For embedded and contract roles, reach out as early as possible — those conversations take time to design properly.

Do you offer gift sessions?

Yes. Email me at ekptheyogi@gmail.com and I'll set it up. Gift sessions are available for yoga and intuitive services.
